Software Requirements

Lab Files

Note: The materials used in this lab were created in an earlier version of PowerPoint. When trying to open them in later versions, you may receive a message asking if you want to 'Update Links.' This message should just be ignored, you can do this by clicking the cancel button.

All the material needed to complete the interactive labs within Module 3 have been compressed into a Zip file and a Stuffit file (MacIntosh users).

To download the Zip file (Windows users):

  1. Save the Lab Files (Zip, 3 MB).
  2. When prompted, select "Save" and save the file to your desktop.
  3. When the file is opened, click ‘Unzip’ and this material will automatically extract into a folder “C:\Mod3Lab” or wherever you chose to extract it by clicking ‘Browse’.
     

To download the Stuffit file (MacIntosh users):

  1. Save the Lab Files (Stuffit, 3 MB).
  2. The file will be automatically saved to your desktop and extract into a folder called "mod3lab".

Lab Overview

The recommended method to achieve an accessible PowerPoint presentation is to "Make a Webpage" by creating separate webpages for each slide or one webpage for the entire presentation. In Module 3, a twelve slide PowerPoint sample presentation (PowerPoint file HCI.ppt , 277 KB) based on the first lecture of a "Human-Computer Interaction" course will be made into one webpage. The sample PowerPoint contains information that is common to most higher-education courses such as: syllabus, grading, professor contact, and textbooks. For each slide, techniques will be demonstrated for converting elements that are often used in PowerPoint presentations to accessible content of a webpage, including:
